And When I Finish, Bring the Yellow Tape

ALSO: Am I the only one who thinks that Human Giant, aside from the frantic mother-as-mover sketch with Linda Cardellini, is horribly unfunny? And that it exposes the three comedians who populate the show as indie-scenester hacks, and the jokes they try to make as single-strand sight gags? Maura reminded me of the critical response to Bonfire of the Vanities: fawning, but only because critics viewed it as a big insid joke on themselves, that only they were able to get. That seems to me pretty appropriate to apply to Aziz and the bald guy from VH1 (I'm not familiar with the guy who looks like Bob Odekerk): neither is funny, but both are probably hilarious cracking jokes about Stereogum at South by Southwest. There's a reason the only thing people are referencing about HG is its Ghostface cameo (and those are coming too cheap these days; I hope he's not turning into rental legitimacy). David Cross can get away with doing essentially the same thing, by the way, because of this, and this (the latter of which set a horribly unfair standard for subsequent junk like HG to strive toward).
