If she didn't have any, her rehearsed debate perf and well-executed convention speech would have gone flat. If she didn't have any, no matter how desperate a certain portion of the Republican base is for the idea of a Palin, she wouldn't be such a lightning rod. Charisma she's got.<br/><br/>What she doesn't have -- and what she might have acquired had she been properly nursed on to the national scene instead of foisted up as a cynical surprise -- is any kind of media savvy. And it would be nice to think that, after losing this election, the memory of her awkward unreadiness prevents the country from embracing her four, or eight, years from now. But the country has a short memory (and I'm not convinced that she won't be our next VP anyway, sigh) and, in light of her charisma, will happily summon up its distrust of the media to dismiss all the damning YouTube clips.
