Rejected here. Bummer—78 seconds of unfettered snarky creativity wasted.

“8:21″ (mp3) is from 1982’s Excitation, and supposedly came to Dreyblatt after he strung a bass with piano wire and beat on it for a while. It’s been called the most “rock” that pure rhythmic drone gets (I think by Jim O’Rourke), and I can’t disagree. Give it time. Make your own polyrhythms, go ahead.
“Point Rotation” (mp3) From 1993, take “8:21″ and freak it out. If one can’t hear the roots of about 20 current indie bands here, I have nothing to say to one. It’s a two-parter. The first is Bernard Hermann, the second perhaps a proto-Mouse on Mars’ “Yippie”? (buy both of these from Forced Exposure)
Got LIVE, If You Want It!

Came across this show, featuring this video, a few nights ago while dicking around on the television, and it’s unforgettable from my head ever since.
Possibly inspired by this but who knows.

Teutonic writer/producer Berry Lipman might not have anything on Moroder/Summer for sultry disco jams, but “Sex World” (mp3), sequenced on the recently reissued, and tons of fun, Disco Deutschland Disco: Disco, Funk & Philly Anthems From Germany 1975-1980, certainly tries hard enough. A little Googling revealed it as the theme from this skin-filled Westworld knockoff (SFW). From same, “Get On the Funk Train, Pt. 1” (mp3) is much more Gamble & Huff, much less Regal Beagle. Dig that funky coach’s whistle breakdown, and then, right at 3:00, Ms. Summer’s, well you know. (also via Forced Exposure)

Ah yes the Naked Brothers Bank, there is a young man named Caleb that you know and this is his favorite show and band. No wonder you were drawn to this show and video.
I’ve got a 15-minute version of “Get on the Funk Train” if you’re interested. Munich Machine, 1977.
