oh yeah and i think it is great they are selling their music to corporations. so what?

they’ve got to make money to keep doing projects like christmas on mars or whatever else they are doing for the experimentation of it. or they just need retirement money. i don’t know how you can listen to that album and not be inspired in some way. if you can’t and all you hear is a “turd” then, then…i don’t know what to say. there is nothing to say to that other than i feel bad that you’ve lost something. maybe it was something you once had or maybe you never had it. maybe you started listening to the lips because they were this obscur band with a small but loyal following. maybe you felt apart of something and you feel that it’s being invaded by all these “newcomers” who can’t possibly understand the lips as you know them. the jerks. the bastards!

maybe you never really liked the lips music in the first place. maybe you just liked the lips because of what they represented to you and not for their music.

people said the same thing about radiohead when they became popular and kid a and amnesiac came out.

“oh they suck now. they will never release a good album.”

i personally love evolving with the lips and can’t wait to see where they go from here. I don’t care that they are getting popular or that their music is evolving. i just focus on the music. i think a lot of people let other factors destroy their listening experience and take the whole thing way too seriously. i think they have lost touch with what the lips are all about. they are the ones selling out. selling out to old age or conservativism or whatever. i’m still enjoying the ride and will continue to do so. go lips!

I doubt we’ll ever see another decent Lips record again.
