Archie Bronson Outfit "Got to Get (Your Eyes)"
For the most part, I like about the same basic things about the Archie Bronson Outfit that I liked about Clinic's first two records---the monochromatic repetitious thudding, the vague sense of menace, the propensity toward something resembling Middle Eastern undertones. Except "Got to Get (Your Eyes)" (mp3), instead of having that strange, alluring, Masonic/Christian grab that Clinic has mastered, has a sort of Aboriginal stomp (like John Kongos' "He's Gonna Step On You Again") and owes a larger debt to Nuggets (and there's totally not anyone in the group named Archie Bronson). "Eyes" is a creeped-out romper-stomper; a big churning goulash of scratched guitars and percolating drums and I'm pretty sure I heard a skronky saxophone in the middle of the torrent somewhere, all capped with the panicked British creepiness of Sam Windett (apparently also known to some as "Mule"), as intent on drawing attention to his theatrical methods as to convincing anyone of his intentions. All he really wants to do, you see, is to attract your glance, to make your eyes look his way. I'd recommend doing it, because yeah, he's starting to get upset.Derdang Derdang is sitting outside Domino's garage on a card table with other CDs.

This is perhaps the best new-ish band with the WORST possible name. I'm not sure why I don't like it. Also, I have a small issue with the album art as well. I mean, I think I understand the look they were going for, it just didn't work. Is it just me?
i'm sensing a retro vibe of sorts, but filtered through a distinctly zine-y aesthetic.
btw, lovely shoes cindy.
It definitely fits with the tone set by the music, sure. I feel like I'd find it in a record store ca. 1968. Actually, and this is really lame and technical, but the placement of the band name and the album title bug me. It's vaguely amateurish, and not in a good way, or a retro way either.
My shoes? Those old things? Goodness, I need an updated picture. I don't even have 'em anymore! (That was taken after seeing the Scissor Sisters in late '04...hence, also, the ridic party frock.)
