(From an Instant Messager conversation. I'm in blue.)
baby dayliner, huh?
yeah, i'm still trying to make something of it.
oh, I've seen this
this is the thing my roommate thought I'd like but then I had to tell him no, not really
he looks/acts like a slightly retarded Rufus Wainwright on a budget.
i can't stop laughing.
he's like a young gay Nick Cave.
ha
oh wait.
I've met a lot of dudes like that
I went to art school in California
i went to a bus stop in Gary.
same dudes.
ha
so, out of curiosity, have you taken this color quiz personality test?
i dont think so...
myself and a number of my friends have taken it today, all with disturbingly accurate results in spite of the minimal, abstract input
http://www.colorquiz.com/
it's like it reads your soul
k
i'm having my soul read now.
i like this thom yorke song too.
it sounds like a demo version, i think. hissy.
he's free of the production values of the brothers Greenwood!
no more Ed O'Brian to push him around!
I think this Eraser thing is hilarious because it only strengthens my theory that Radiohead have the same career arc as the Talking Heads
do you think everyone resents yorke as much as they did byrne though?
I think it's a different era
huh?
oh I thought you meant the audience
no, the band.
no I get the impression that the Radiohead guys know they have a great collaboration and none of them wants to rock the boat, including Thom
like, tina and chris were this little clique that totally hated byrne b/c he was a totalitarian despot and whatever the fuck.
like CCR but not really
yes but they were also a married couple
and a clique within the band
which is just as bad as being a despot in terms of group dynamics
so they are hardly blameless
in fact, they probably just egged David on
they were David eggers!
people like that always make things worse on themselves
and it's not like he didn't teach her to play bass or anything.
but the important question is do you think Yorke will leave the band and that the rest of them will make a shitty record without him?
no
I think the perverse thing is that the ego problem wasn't with Byrne, but with them. they couldn't get over themselves enough to see the big picture.
I see Radiohead being the type of band that doesn't break up but rather doesn't make a record for nine years or something
ha. like the Wrens.
"Hopes to obtain an improved position and greater prestige, so that he can procure for himself more of the things he has had to do without."
well, like Steely Dan or Pink Floyd
that's my color philosophy
hmm
how right on is yours overall?
"Sensitive, and susceptible to gentleness and delicacy of feeling, with a desire to blend into some sort of mystic fusion of erotic harmony. However, this desire remains unsatisfied due to the lack of a suitable partner or adverse conditions, and he keeps a strict and watchful control on his emotional relationships as he needs to know precisely where he stands. Is fastidious, esthetic, and has a cultured taste which allows him to form and express his own taste and judgment, especially in the fields of art and artistic creativity. Strives to ally with others who can assist him in his intellectual or artistic growth."
that's the second part, and it seems equal parts new age mumbo jumbo as the first part.
I'm just curious about how accurate this is for a lot of people, cos it totally nailed about ten people including myself
wow yours really is mystic
mine isn't at all
erotic harmony
"a desire to blend into some sort of mystic fusion of erotic harmony."
with THOM YORKE and DAVID BYRNE

like Sting
"Feels that he cannot do much about his existing problems and difficulties and that he must make the best of things as they are. Able to achieve satisfaction from sexual activity.
Able to achieve satisfaction from sexual activity."
DOOD GETZ OFF.
yes, it's good to know that I am "able" to enjoy sex
we're all really happy for you.

I'd love to
"Receptive to anything new, modern, or intriguing; has many interests and wants to expand his fields of activity. Optimistic about the future."
this i can sort of hop on with.
that sounds like you
Wants to act freely and uninhibitedly, but is restrained by his need to have things on a rational, consistent, and clearly-defined basis.
that's a bullseye-ish one.
i like how the only ad on the colour quiz site is

well, not the only one.
yeah, it's harmless.
new agey.
ha
"Don't be fooled into thinking dealcoholized wine is just fancy grape juice. Now you can be an around-the-clock mom and also enjoy a glass or two of the good stuff."
TRUE.
"Stop dishing the Oscar contenders' gowns and start dressing like Hollywood's leading ladies."
ha
man, I wonder which idiots will be posting these Yorke songs tomorrow
lots of idiots.
