Evangelicals "Hello Jenn, I’m A Mess"

Tuesday, August 22, 2006

I wonder what Jenn thinks when she sees The Evangelicals on her caller ID. Again. The Evangelicals have a way of getting themselves into weird shit, and although they’re frequently a blast to hang out with, she really has to get to the bank before it closes. If the song “Hello Jenn, I’m A Mess” (mp3) is any indication of the relationship between the two (and duh, it is), Jenn really doesn’t want to pick up the phone because she knows from experience that a.) the Evangelicals have just finished a box of wine and want to come over and discuss the email they just received from their ex-girlfriend who’s studying in France this semester, or b.) they’re in the county lockup and their shirt is ripped and the mushrooms are still having quite an effect. But this time when Jenn puts her purse down and goes over to the phone, it’s thankfully c.) The Evangelicals have just blown an amp and decided that instead of practicing for Wednesday’s show in Norman they’re going to shoot a video for this song. Could she please bring as many lamps as possible, but not necessarily the shades (to simulate the blinking eyes in the darkness that blink along with the guitar rhythm during the verses). And could she also stop and pick up a box of wine, but just to drink for inspiration while they’re trying to figure out whether to put the twins on roller skates during the slowed chorus or shoot the 12 gauge into the garbage bags full of feather pillows again. Jenn smartly decides she can wait to cash her work check tomorrow.

So Gone is out on Misra as we speak. Purchase it here.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: I know so many of you are going to need to enter a clinic or something because of this, but the podcasts have been indefinitely suspended due to lack of time to create them (the podcasts, that is). They’re hard, and I have less time now than I did this summer (lots of time). Hopefully they’ll come back at some point. I’ve removed the sidebar feed link, but if you want to access any of the back ones still remaining, they’re here. Yeah, sorry.
