Regina Spektor on NPR’s "All Things Considered"
Friday, June 30, 2006
NPR’s All Things Considered, when it’s not overwhelmed with tote bags and Nina Totenberg, can occasionally give us something pretty great. A case in point is last Wednesday’s vignette with Regina Spektor (mp3), on the heels of the release of her new one, Begin to Hope (buy). With an accent that suggests a mousier Eastern Bloc Bjork, she talks about her musical upbringing in New York City and her unique appreciation of hiccups as tambourines, along the way distancing herself from the ’singer-songwriter’ tag while name-dropping The Odyssey, Pasternak and Dumas.
