The Kinks "Village Green Preservation Society"
Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park, London 1.21.1972

Hijacked long ago from the master of a BBC performance (hence the TC burn up top), this is a great version of "Village Green" (m4v) with big brass arrangement that surprisingly doesn't get buried under its own weight. This is about the point (1972---right after the swell Muswell Hillbillies) that I tune the band out ---the Seventies mini-operas are largely interchangeable for me---but this is a great finale. I especially enjoy Davies' introduction to the song and his seemingly honest embarassment at the crowd's reaction after.
