Cover Mix Contest, Volume II–Results
Monday, January 16, 2006
I had a record number of replies for Volume II of the Cover Mix Contest, but only one got every track properly identified, with song titles and both artists. It’s also totally unfair, because the winner is Brian Ibbott, the proprietor of The Cover Song Podcast at Coverville.com. Now, to be fair, I didn’t issue any limits on who could participate, but I will issue one now: Brian can’t play anymore. But he can console himself with the overly lame prize package, which consists, among other stuff, of a copy of the hard to find soundtrack to the 1994 independent film Dickwad, composed by the now-defunct Pigs on Corn. It’s held a special place in my collection for 12 years, and now it will delightfully augment Brian’s home. The title of the prize has no relation to my feelings for Brian, who is clearly not a dickwad.

Um, Marley’s Concrete Jungle isn’t the same song as the Specials’ Concrete Jungle. Roddy Radiation wrote the Specials’ Concrete Jungle.
Thanks for that–it shows my lack of knowledge about Marley, I guess. This one will definitely appear on my “not a cover, per se, but a titular homage to a previous song” mix.
