very nice list... i agree with your Franz observations, as well the Gorillaz stuff.

I can't get "Dare" out of my head. I'm not sure who the female vocalist is, but she sounds like the lady from the Sneaker Pimps. very Madonna-sounding.

and, you're absolutely right about the Stripes video. sick concept and execution. and a little Conan never hurt anyone.

gondry certainly is the best. but as for the state of music videos right now, the whole “stop-motion” schtick is becoming over done, both with photography and animation. i like it when it is done well, but sometimes it feels unnecessary. i appreciate that doves video and “the denial twist” infinitely more.

great list, and i totally agree about that “noah’s ark” video. the basketball imagery is great.

and although it doesn’t technically qualify, i think the sony commercial that used jose gonzalez’s ‘heartbeats’ was the best music video i saw all year.
