Jneiro Jarel "Big Bounce Theory"

Typically, when an MC says “turn it up,” he or she doesn’t intend what Jneiro Jarel does at the start of “Big Bounce Theory” (mp3). He follows his initial exhortation by wallowing in the beat, allowing the blurry, highly processed trumpet loop to dominate the mix, burying his vocals. It’s an interesting hip-hop track, one that allows a cosmopolitan-sounding plushness to take the lead, rocking a mood instead of any specific ideology. It also opens Jarel’s debut full length Three Piece Puzzle–spotty and overlong as a full-length, but a potential sign of good things to come from Tuesday’s other resident of the Illadelph.
