goodhands team “Autosaved”

Wednesday, November 9, 2005

(This is the latest post in a recurring feature on overlooked bands and musical artists, past and present, from Indiana.)

goodhands team is the moniker adopted by Bloomington, Indiana’s one-man production whiz Josh Olivo. (Full disclosure: I know Josh. He’s a good guy. We used to hang out). Josh began life as a drummer par excellence in various indie pop groups, but now he’s a hermetic soul, confining himself to his production studio and cranking out little electronic wonders in the vein of Boards of Canada, Matmos, and Aphex Twin’s more ambient stuff. He’s won a few remix contests, including online ones for Radiohead (mp3) and Autechre, and just put out a new one, called Heads Up Play. He would really like a distribution deal, and he’s well worth it. For now though, all of his music is available for download through his website.

Check out “Autosaved,” (
mp3) from Heads Up Play.

Bonus: A remix he did for Indy(ie) pop group The Pieces, for “I Just Wanna Be Loved” (mp3)
